Brief
BiteRight is an innovative mobile app that empowers users to make informed food choices. By simply scanning a photo of a meal, the app utilizes AI to analyze its nutritional content and provide personalized recommendations. It helps users reach their goals, whether they're aiming to lose weight, gain muscle, or simply maintain a balanced diet.
My Role
I joined the BiteRight project during its MVP phase. My key contribution involved elevating the app's visual appeal through a logo redesign and strategic UI enhancements, resulting in a more engaging and user-friendly experience.
Logo Redesign
The initial logo was overly detailed and vertically elongated, making it less suitable for smaller app icons. To improve its visibility and adaptability, I simplified the design, opting for a more minimalist approach. The new logo incorporates a stylized leaf from the original design, combined with a bracket motif to symbolize the app’s core function of scanning meals. By adjusting the color palette and overall shape, the revised logo is now more visually appealing and better suited for the app.

UI Enhancements
Homepage:
To enhance the homepage's visual clarity and user experience, I streamlined the design by removing unnecessary color accents and focusing on a minimalist approach. This simplification emphasizes the core functionality of the app, making it more intuitive and visually appealing.
Dish Checker:
To improve the DishChecker page's clarity and user experience, I addressed several key issues. First, I replaced the generic BiteRight logo with more specific page titles to enhance navigation and understanding. Second, I simplified the color scheme, relying on icons instead of color-coding to distinguish different features. This change not only improves accessibility for color-blind users but also creates a more visually consistent experience. Finally, I optimized the layout of the nutrition details by removing the calorie meter and incorporating it into the nutrition facts section.
Adapting to Mobile Screens:
To ensure a seamless mobile experience, I prioritized a mobile-first approach. By strategically breaking down information into multiple screens, I optimized the user interface for smaller devices. This approach improved navigation, reduced visual clutter, and enhanced overall usability.
Additional Screens
New Screens were added to the app, including BiteRight Cuisine and BiteRight Magazine.
What's next?
The design enhancements implemented in the BiteRight app have significantly improved the overall user experience. By simplifying the interface, optimizing the mobile experience, and prioritizing visual clarity, we have created a more intuitive and engaging platform.
As we continue to develop the app, we are excited to introduce new features that will further enhance user satisfaction and provide even greater value.
